NEW: POSTAL SERVICE DEBACLE CAUSING TRUMP TO LOSE SWING VOTERS
Online Sentiment Tracker Shows Swing Voters Oppose Trump’s Handling of Postal Service

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the One Country Fund (OCF) released a social media listening report that analyzed 40,000 swing voters and their support for President Trump since the beginning of May. The report found that Trump’s mishandling of the United States Postal Service (USPS) is costing him with swing voters.

“One thing is clear – Americans will not stand for the politicization of our nation’s Postal Service. The USPS is a vital lifeline for millions across the country, from delivering much-needed prescription medication to replacement parts or even baby chicks for our nation’s farmers. President Trump’s attempts to undermine the agency and lie about mail-in voting amid a global pandemic show he’s running scared because he is losing. There is no line he will not cross and his reprehensible actions are turning swing voters away from him,” said OCP founding board member and former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

OCF observed social media traffic nationally from May 15 to August 21 and identified several key insights:

  • Swing voters’ sentiment of President Trump decreased as he continued his attacks on the USPS.
  • Voters expressed anger at Trump, accusing him of using the Postal Service to interfere with the election.
  • They also believe Trump-appointed officials are deliberately sabotaging the service ahead of November election in order to minimize the impact of mail-in ballots.
  • A smaller portion of voters think this is a manufactured political controversy, designed by those on the left to undermine the president.
